Can I cancel?
Yes — anytime, no questions asked. Open the Course Compass extension, tap your profile to reach the Account panel, and click Cancel subscription to open Paddle's self-serve cancel portal. Or email [email protected] and we'll cancel it right away. You keep access until the end of your paid period, then your account drops back to Free automatically. No cancellation fees. Billing is handled by Paddle, our merchant of record.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your notes, files, and library always stay on your device by default — that doesn't change if you cancel. If you'd opted into cloud backup on a paid plan, your notes index is also stored on our backend so it can restore to your other signed-in devices; email [email protected] for a full export or to have that copy removed. Your account profile and credit history can also be exported anytime from the account portal — your data is always yours.
Do you offer student discounts?
The free plan is designed to be genuinely useful, not a crippled trial. Semester and annual plans already apply a significant discount over monthly billing (semester saves ~15%, annual saves ~33%). We're also exploring .edu-verified discount pricing — sign up for updates at [email protected].
What's a credit?
Credits are the unit we use to meter AI compute — OCR, quiz generation, draft grading, notes indexing, and Q&A all draw from your monthly credit pool. Most single actions cost just a few credits — generating a quiz is about 2 credits, indexing a new notes source is about 5. Core features like assignment prioritization, the study timer, and the treasure hunt never use credits. Paid plans refill your credits at the start of each billing cycle, and you can buy top-up packs ($3.49 / 500 credits) if you run out.
Is billing secure?
Yes. All payment processing is handled by Paddle, a PCI-DSS-compliant merchant of record. Charted Edu Tech never sees or stores your card number. Paddle handles tax collection, invoicing, and refunds on our behalf.
